If you’ve been watching the news, reading online news stories or watching any youtube videos, you have no doubt heard about the bills that congress and the senate have been trying to pass for the past few months.. The two most notable bills were SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and The Protect IP Act (AKA PIPA) There was a huge internet blackout of sites like Wikipedia and google blacked out their banner to show that they are against these bills.. But the fun doesn’t stop there.. A “New” treaty (agreement) popped up into peoples radar called ACTA (Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement.) ACTA is billed as something that is going to help people fight online piracy and counterfeiting.. It’s like SOPA and PIPA in that it’s bad but it’s MUCH worse because it’s on a global scale.. It doesn’t only make it illegal to download music… It makes it illegal to share absolutely anything if it breaks copyright laws.

If you share a recipe that you learned in cooking school with your wife, she shares it with her mother, her mom shares it with all of her friends.. You all without warning become criminals and can either be heavily fined or taken directly to jail without a hearing. ACTA grants the airport security rights to search through your Iphone, ipad and other electronics to “make sure” you don’t have any copyrighted (illegally) downloaded songs on there.

It’s on a much wider scale and I can’t for the life of me understand why there was a huge protest against the bills SOPA and PIPA but the much worse bill ACTA isn’t getting the attention it deserves, Please. I urge you to sign the pettions, to share it with your facebook friends, twitter friends, Reblog this post and make sure to get the word out there.. I know a lot of people are already giving up as if the internet isn’t free anymore and it’s going away tomorrow. But guess what? We still have to fight! We can’t take this laying down and assume that it’s all going to turn out horribly, If we don’t try to do all we can.. Then nothing at all will get done.

Make sure to get the word out AGAINST ACTA, Call your congress members, senate members, parliament members. Where ever you are, Whoever you are.. And whatever you are doing.. Talk about ACTA and how it completely violates civil and human rights (Not to mention goes against the constitution in a disgusting way) Show the government and big media companies like MPAA that we WILL not let our freedom be taken away.

This goes BEYOND the internet, This goes into the reality of it all, You can and will be arrested if ACTA passes, Even if you don’t use the Internet.. This is bigger than the internet, This is global.

And we all need to do our part to stop it.
